The Earth Is Warming Up
It's Supposed To BeNow let’s say that you took the average over the last ten years (1998 – 2007) and compared that to the average over the previous ten years (1988 – 1997). If those two averages were the same, you would expect a problem. You know that those numbers will be different, because it is in the nature of the beast. Weather changes. The temperatures go up and they go down. That’s the way it’s always been and that’s the way it will always be. So when the global warming alarmists declare that the average global temperature has gone up over the past 100 years, you would have to say, sure, why not? Temperature changes. It changes every single day, sometimes from hour to hour. Why would anyone expect the global average temperature to be exactly the same this year as it was last year, or 100 years ago? Since we would expect the average temperature to be different, the question to ask is why is a 1-degree average change over 100 years of any importance? We know we would not expect it to be unchanging. What was the average global temperature supposed to be? You will not be able to find that question answered anywhere by any global warming alarmist. We are still in the infancy period of global climate science. So far, we have been able to note that the temperature goes up and the temperature goes down. Blaming industrial production and cars for this change is ridiculous. We would first need to have a science that predicted what the average global temperature was supposed to be, and then show that industrial production was the factor that affected the temperature change. We don’t have that. The weatherman cannot even tell us whether we will need a sweater today. The farmer has no idea if he will have a bumper crop or an early frost. And yet, somehow, Al Gore and the global warming alarmists can tell us that we will have increasing global temperatures over the next 100 years. They have it figured out with computer models. Would those be the same computer models that predict today’s highs and lows? If their daily numbers have errors, how much more are those errors magnified over a period of 100 years? The earth has gone through many ice ages and interglacial periods. The earth’s average temperature has gone up and down for thousands of years without any help from mankind. Global Warming: A Chilling Perspective is the best website I have found that shows these average temperatures not only over the past 100 years, but also over thousands of years. You can see for yourself that the average temperature goes up and down over eons. And most of that change is before mankind entered the picture. And by looking at the charts of average temperatures, the best that we can say is that we are in an interglacial period. That means we are between ice ages, in other words: the earth is warming up. It's supposed to be. Until it starts cooling down. |
